The Road to Recovery
Brando was very dopey yesterday, she mostly slept with the odd interjected whine. But thankfully today she seems almost back to her old self and is causing us great difficulty as we try to prevent her jumping on and off furniture in her usual inimitable style!
Spay Day
Very worried about Brando as she is being spayed today. Fingers crossed everything goes well!
Duvet Dinner
Who knew feathers could be so tasty?
I could hear Brando chewing away in the bedroom, but assumed she was tearing into the toilet roll holder she had just made off with. Luckily, my suspicions were aroused enough that I decided to go investigate.
And what did I discover?
Holiday, Celebrate!
Brando had a fantastic first holiday at a log cabin in Suffolk. It was set in farmland so she had plenty of space to run around and get truly knackered - we even saw her panting, briefly.
Her first trip to the beach went really well and she even ventured into the water, albeit accidentally, but she really seemed to enjoy it.
Can’t wait for the summer, to engage in more seaside...
Congratulations Penshannel Wicked William
Brando’s uncle Billy (above) has gained first place (out of 21 contenders) in his group - Mid Limit Dog at Crufts. Well done to him!
A Star is Born
Soooo, the big news is… Brando was on stage last night with Cesar Millan!
The Dog Whisperer Tour were looking for puppies to be include in the show and Brando was chosen.
We were on stage for about five minutes as Cesar showed the audience how to treat a puppy when greeting them, in order to contain their excitement. As you will see from the video clip (which I will add soon) this mostly...
Even Longer Time No Type!
Ok, I know I have been rubbish at the updating recently, but I have made a promise to myself (and Brando) to get on top of it, so I shall…
This will begin tomorrow with a major exciting piece of news…
Watch this space for details!

Long Time No Type
Firstly, I was really busy and had no time to do updates and then my internet connection broke - see pic below - I was attempting to get online by the power of Blu-Tack, tinfoil and a matchbox (which Brando later stole and then it was all over!).
So quite a bit has happened in the last while:
We have had our first visitor who stayed over. This meant Lisa and I slept in the living room with...

There Was a Young Puppy Who Swallowed a Spider
…and I love her even more for doing so!
Less Cagey
As Brando has been a good girl regarding her crate, she’s enjoying her newly acquired sofa-time.
What Goes Up Must Come Down
Still no return of the bright yellow earplugs; should I be worried?
Calm Submissive Behaviour
We’ve met quite a few dogs on our walks so far and Brando has been well behaved and respectful. She’s even bowed her head and been quite submissive, it’s good that she is showing some manners. Saying that I’m sure she won’t be quite so polite at puppy class tomorrow night. Although the dogs aren’t allowed to mix with one another. Which is fair enough, I’m...
Mystic Brando
Hmm seems she was right about Olly, how verily spooky!
The X Factor
Brando doesn’t seem to be a fan of Olly Murs, she was howling and barking through his performance tonight. I think she definitely wants him to be in the bottom two tomorrow!
The Kindness of Strangers
Brando’s outside walking is going really well. Although she really does want to talk to everyone who passes and runs up to them looking really happy and excited. This however, doesn’t work on everyone and she seems quite confused when they just walk on by.
Thankfully some old guy took a real liking to her and came over to tell her she was beautiful. This made her day and has helped to...
New Love
Brando has dreadful taste in women. First it was Kirsty Allsop and now it’s the shrill vocal stylings of Gillian McKeith that’s keeping Brando glued to the telly.
I’m hoping it’s just the Scottish accent she’s loving.
£44
That’s is how much it costs these days to dry clean a duvet and four pillows!
Dog Pee. Probably the most expensive piss in the world.
Or…
Get feather duvet dry cleaned… £20 Add four feather pillows… £24 Petrol to get there… £5 Snuggling up with puppy when shattered in the morning… Priceless
Butt Plug
Brando has just eaten two illuminous yellow earplugs. That’s all I have to say on the subject.
Walk the Dog
Brando’s first walk went brilliantly. She was really good on the lead and stayed walking along side me for the most part. She also made it obvious that she was tired, by just sitting down lol!
She seemed a little too interested in the elderly (who weren’t at all interested in her!) and she met her first dog up close and personal in the park (an Airedale Terrier I believe), she totally...

Coming soon to a living room near you…Zombie Dog!
Barking Brando
Brando is getting this outside toilet thing down!
Kind of.
She runs to the back door and barks if she wants a poo, which is great.
The pee thing is a bit backwards though… If we don’t see her sitting waiting at the door, she will just go ahead and wee, then she barks at the little puddle she’s made to let us know it’s there… Not quite right, but definitely on the right track!
Groundhog Day
This blog is becoming a bit repetitive. Once again Brando pee’d in my bed. Once again I know it’s my own fault.
But I do have an excuse.
I reckon it’s because she can still smell the pee on the duvet, so automatically thinks it’s ok to do it there. YES, I washed it, but only by hand, so I think that although humans can’t detect urine on it anymore, she still can.
I though I was being so clever...
Guilty
You may have noticed in the last anniversary post that I eluded to the fact Brando is now allowed back in my bed.
I am ashamed to say that is correct, she’s been having morning naps for the last few days…and even worse it’s now under the covers!
Shame on me.
I have attached the below cute picture in order to redeem myself.
Gimme the Bright Yellow Thing!
A duster obsession is forming. Every time the cupboard under the kitchen sink is opened, Brando appears from nowhere, steals a yellow duster and bolts back to her lair.
Burping Brando
Brando has recently discovered that she is able to burp and now does so quite frequently. Lovely.
Soggy Doggy
After a treading-in-her-own-poo fiasco - poo that was incidentally bungee jumping out of her bum due to her obsession with eating hair (yes I pulled it out) – Brando required a second bathing.
This time she wasn’t so scared, but still tried to get out the bath - fail. We made it quick and as painless as possible and even managed to wash her smelly little head.
The fear was quickly forgotten...
Pick a Book Any Book
Self Obsessed? Brando absolutely knows her name and it appears she can read. I saw her sniffing around my bookshelf the other day and look which book she had been perusing (ok, pushing with her nose).
Fourth (Week) Anniversary
Think this will be the last anniversary post!
Here’s how Brando has progressed:
Sleep Pattern - Howls for a while and then sleeps for 7.5 to 8 hours per night.
Eating - Rice and Orijen.
Favourite Things (in no particular order) -
Nipping Chasing leaves in garden Chewing on metal Playing Sleeping on couch Snake from vets Hair Fetch and grab Squeaking her lovely squeaky ball ...
I've Seen the Light (and I have Bitten it)
Brando is currently going bonkers at a lamp in the living room. I reckon it’s because she isn’t 100% sure what we are looking at when watching TV (which the light is right next to). Subsequently, she is attacking anything else in the room that seems to command any attention away from her. Diva in the making.
KC Transferral of Ownership
Finally got all the Kennel Club paperwork through (damn Royal Mail) and have now officially transferred Brando over to Lisa and myself. V exciting, and the odd thing is her KC registration code is AK4 – this is my initials followed by my favourite number…it was meant to be I tell thee!
Crate Hate
Too much sleeping on the sofa I believe. Brando is not very happy with her crate and has to be shoved in it and the gate quickly closed at night time. This is then followed by ten minutes of howling. I feel awful, no couch sleeping for the next couple of days – hopefully this will sort the problem.
Are You Ready for Your Close Up?
No is the answer to that. Over the last few days Brando seems to have become very camera shy. She has always attacked my iPhone, but now if she isn’t close enough to do that, she just moves around a lot so I get a blurry shot every time. This may explain the lack of photos over the last few days.
A Girl Called Percy
Some think that Brando is a masculine name for a girl – well I am pleased to say that we met a little female puppy today who is called Percy. I have also been told of an English Bull Terrier girl named Dave, so by these standards Brando has definitely been out-butched!
Road Dog
Prior to visiting the vet today Brando was treated to over two hours in the car and she was perfectly behaved the whole time. It wasn’t her first car trip, but definitely her longest so far.
2nd Jab/Jag & ID Chip
Today she got her second jab/jag which was fine, but her ID Chip really made her squeal and she bled. It was horrible to watch. True to form though she recovered in roughly 0.8 seconds and acted as if nothing had happened to her!
She also had to have her anal glands manually emptied, the smell was horrendous! All-in-all I don’t think today was Brando’s best – a finger up the bum and a big jag in...
HMS Titanic
What they needed aboard that ship was a Staffy! Today Brando went mental chasing, attacking and eating a block of ice.
Rice-orama
There is rice everywhere in my house. This is thanks to Brando’s inability to do the following: A) finish all her food at her dog bowl, B) stop half-chewed pieces falling from her mouth between gaps in her teeth as she runs about, and C) realise that you don’t actually want bits of rice brought over and dropped on your foot as some kind of present .
Puppy Training Classes
Brando will start school on 24th November. Let’s just hope she becomes a model student and doesn’t pick on the other puppies.
The Wild One
So Brando truly is a rebel without a cause. She seems to have taken one step back in almost everything:
Toilet Training Still going ANYWHERE in the house. Thankfully it’s generally just peeing (apart from the other night when she wanted to show off both bodily functions in front of a new guest. Literally right in front of their feet when they were sitting on the sofa…needless to say they...
And the Winner is...
Rice! Plain rice is the answer to Brando’s poo problem. Big thanks once again to the Staffy Forum. I’ll get cooking right away!
I've Broken the Dog
Seems my hasty transition onto Orijen has caused a real problem - runny poo and awful gas - wish I knew how to stop it :(
Third (Week) Anniversary
Time is flying…think I’ll just keep the anniv bit up to the month mark.
Here’s how Brando has progressed:
Sleep Pattern - Sleeps for 7.5 to 8 hours per night.
Eating - Rice!
Favourite Things (in no particular order) -
Nipping Chasing leaves in garden Chewing on metal Playing Sleeping on couch Snake from vets Hair Fetch and grab Squeaking her lovely squeaky ball Sleeping on couch...
Can I Lick It? No You Can't!
Today Brando has realised that the radiators in this house really have an attitude problem and must be taught a lesson.
You see, Brando has a fascination for all things metal and shiny. Today, she decided to lick the radiator in the bathroom. It was on.
It must have hurt her as she looked shocked. So she did what any normal dog would do… she licked it again. And again. And again. Each...
Almost There
The outside toilet training is going pretty well - although she isn’t too keen on the cold!
She loves her little patio area, but in typical Brando fashion she has started holding her pee and now goes for loads of tiny little ones instead of letting it all out in a one-er. I’m thinking this may be a cunning plan so she can get outside more hmmm?
Run Free Little Brando!
Cleared the patio area and boarded off the pathway to the main garden in order to let Brando go outside again. She is still managing to find random bits of weed to chew, but I’m sure she’ll be fine.
She isn’t too thrilled at being barred from the rest of the garden though, she seems to find her limited area a bit boring. In fact, she came running inside in order to steal...
Orijen Express
Just had the Orijen delivered. Brando is going absolutely nuts over the smell and I’m going absolutely nuts over how heavy it is!
Have just mixed a little in with her current food and she has cleared her bowl!

Hernia Watch
Protruding more, don’t want to worry, but I didn’t expect it to keep getting bigger. Have a vet appointment in a week (second jab/jag), so will keep an eye on it til then.
